Prior to working with the Heather at Contact Point, my experience with website technicians had been disappointing. It seemed that those who were good at website design had no understanding of how to move it up the rankings of the search engines; those who claimed to be able to do this were well beyond my budget to hire and others promised the world then required constant chasing up to get even the most minor changes actioned.

After coming highly recommended by a valued colleague, I approached my initial discussions with Heather with fair degree of scepticism. She soon turned that around through her responsiveness, her ability to explain technical aspects of website management in plain English in a respectful way and her total professionalism. From that day I have been impressed with Heather’s integrity, follow-up and ability to connect with our goals and core values at Project Balance. Since engaging Contact Point, the number of visitors to our website and our enquiry level has increased. Her team has just completed an entirely new look for our website, which we all agree is massive improvement on the old site! We all love it! I will re-write this reference in six months time and include details of the increased business that will come from Heather’s hard work and dedication.

The Challenge

The design of the Rapini website (shown to the right) had not been changed for over 5 years, and had a number of glaring issues:

  • It did not sport the new Rapini logo, and was out of sync with their new brochure design.
  • The front page of the site did not quickly give visitors an understanding of what Rapini offered.
  • The navigation through the product range was very cumbersome and products were hard to find.
  • Getting to information in the site usually required many clicks.

With frequently changing and expanding product ranges, Rapini also needed to be able to maintain the content of the website themself, but did not want to have to learn to write in HTML or other language.

In addition, Rapini wished to perform much better in the search engines - the site barely had any rank in Google except via an industry site that listed them along with their competitors.

Contact Point provided recommendations to Rapini for the improvement of the website, and was very happy to have the challenge of redesigning both the look and feel as well as the information architecture of the site to make visiting it much more efficient and useful.

The Solution

A snapshot of the new design is shown below, and of course can be visited at www.rapini.com.au and has the following highlights:

  • The new front page instantly communicates that Rapini is in the business of providing a wide range of industrial product through the list of product types on the right hand side, and the new logo and colour scheme is well featured
  • The text included on the front page helps to improve Rapini's search engine ranking (results discussed below)
  • Hovering over the Product navigation allows visitors to get a feel for the full range of products available from Rapini, and allows visitors to get to nearly 100% of the information on the site with just one click!
  • From each product page, "breadcrumbs" are provided at the top of the page to make it easy for a visitor to see where they are in the categories of products and click through to a different area.
  • The new site includes more information on clients and testimonials, the service provided by Rapini, and the mission of the company, which all communicate better with a potential client
  • An online administration system makes use of a powerful WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) editor allowing Rapini staff to change just the parts of each page that contain the content of the site, and leaves the navigation and site style intact.

Contact Point is also providing search engine optimisation assistance to Rapini, and their rank in the search engine under popular key phrases is already improving dramatically with links appearing on page 1 and 2 of Google within 3 months of commencing the program.
