Mobile Computing - a Case Study

The Challenge

To provide a property salesperson with information on the properties on their files including contact numbers, whilst they are on the road, passing by a particular property.

The Solution

Using an in-built web browser and a database that will synchronise automatically with data held back at the office, Contact Point IT Services rapidly developed and deployed an application that allows the salesperson to search for a property by street name and/or suburb. A list of all matching properties can then be easily navigated on the salesperson's smart phone (combined PDA and phone), and the details for the owner of the property displayed. A phone call can then be easily made from the smart phone, using information from the property record.

The special requirements of the solution included:
- small application size so as to take up a minimal amount of disk space on the smart phone
- small user interface, which is easy to use with a stylus
- very quick execution considering limited RAM

This is just one example of a solution built by Contact Point to help businesses operate more efficiently and effectively.
